RV320 / RV042 Reserved / Assigned IP Addresses vs. Range in DHCP

I'd like to understand the rules for DHCP on RV routers.

My intent is to NOT have DHCP available except for assigned MAC addresses.

Do the IP addresses for the assigned MAC addresses belong inside the specified range?

Do they belong *outside* the specified range?

Does it matter?

Examples:

1) I set a range of .100 to .149.  I *assign* .120, .121,.122 to MAC addresses.  Nothing else.  Presumably, .120,.121,.122 are reserved and others in .100 to .149 are assignable to other devices.  .120,.121,.122 are never assigned to other devices.

2)  I set a range of .100 to .149.  I *assign* .220, .221,.222 to MAC addresses.  Nothing else.  Presumably, .220,.221,.222 are reserved and are assigned when the devices listed appear, and  .100 to .149 are assignable to other devices.

3) Same as 1 but "Block MAC addresses not on the list".  In this case the range is meaningless?

4) Same as 2 but "Block MAC addresses not on the list".  In this case the range is meaningless?

I've not found the rules anywhere.....
