For those running DNAC version 2.1.2.6 in a cluster, I want to backup automation data only.
Do I need to prepare a Linux server as a remote backup server?
this sentence from admin guide 2.1.2
"If you plan to back up automation data only, you need to configure the Cisco DNA Center Core System server. If you plan to back up both automation and Assurance data, you need to configure the Cisco DNA Center core system backup server and the NFS backup server."
I have confused about that.Is the Cisco DNA Center Core System server indicates a Linux server, or a DNAC local?

Hello,
Please take a look at:
Cisco DNA Center Administrator Guide, Release 2.1.2
Chapter: Backup and Restore
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/cloud-systems-management/network-automation-and-management/dna-center/2-1-2/admin_guide/b_cisco_dna_center_admin_guide_2_1_2/b_cisco_dna_center_admin_guide_2_1_1_chapter_0110.html
Checkout the "Server Requirements for Automation Data Backup'"
The backup server must run one of the following operating systems:
- RedHat Enterprise (or CentOS) 7 or later
- Ubuntu 16.04 (or Mint, etc) or later
** Note: you can use the same Linux Server as an NFS Server for Assurance but just make sure you do not use the same path or directory structure.
But to answer your question, yes. Please prepare a supportred Linux Server instance for your automation backups.
