Hi all, I have 3 esxi 8 servers with storage volumes on nfs and some fc library direct assigned to fc card on hosts.
I wold like to upgrade the network infrastructure and make vm with assigned tape library free to vmotion between hosts.
System is low budget so I'm thinking to use:
- one ucs 6140xp ( ~100€ on ebay )
- one vic 1225 for every host ( ~25€ on ebay )
Can I :
- connect tape librarty to switch fc ports
- connect esxi 1225 ports to switch 10gbe ports
- connect synology an uplink to switch 10gbe ports
- configure vnic and vhba on esxi to make all work ?
I have a lot of it/net experience but no cisco knowledge , I've only read online documentation so i'm asking to someone with more experience than me to know if it's possible.
* Complexity/learning is not a problem
* Power usage/loudness of 6140xp is known and not a problem.
