Hello,

I get the message:

"Error Login - Fabric Manager

Unable to login to server!

FMS is still starting up.

Please wait and try again."

I restarted the Cico service, I rebooted the server...

... same result.

What can I do?

Ivy

Hi Ivy,

Not knowing all the details (what version of FM, host operating system, etc.), I think you've done what would normally be the first steps to resolve this type of FM issue.

Your best bet would be to open a Cisco TAC Service Request.

Regards,

Ken

Hello,

I did an upgrade to FM 5.04d but that did not solve the problem.

I did an upgrade to Java jre-6u26 but that did not solve the problem.

Still searching...

Ivy

Hello,

I did a fresh install of Fabric manager 5.0(4d) and still have the same problem!

Any help / suggestion is wellcome...

Ivy

Device manager works OK!

I can launch a device manager for a specific director

Hi Ivy

Can you tell us what the status of the service is (started? starting up?), you can see this in the services.msc.

Also, what does eventvwr and the logfile of FMS tell you?

best,

Kris

Cisco Fabric Manager service is Started

What / where is an eventvwr?

I can send you the lastest fùmserver.log

Hi Ivy,

eventvwr is the command you run to open the Windows Event Viewer. it's the 'syslog' of windows.

Hi Kris,

Our SAN equipment is maintenance with EMC²

I raised a service request on EMC Powerlink. (42290058)

The case is treated by EMC USA...

After restarting the FM service I have send a FM server log.

Rgds,

Ivy

Hello,

When I compare the processes running in the Fabric Manager servers:

On our "good" FM server there is a process running "jucheck.exe" which is NOT present on our faulty FM!

Can this lead to a solution?

Rgds,

Ivy

Ivy,

What backend database are you running for Fabric Manager? Oracle XE or Postgres SQL?

I had a similar issue/error. For some reason the very first FM installation does not go well on some PC (Win 7 with Java). When I uninstall FM through Add/Remove program, also uninstalled Postgres SQL. Reinstalling worked for me.

Hello,

I did a de-installation of Fabric Manager (also removing left over folder).
I re-installed FM 5.0(4d)  = latest version

We use the Oracle database
I reloaded rrd files:(these were saved before the uninstall)
copy rrd files back to $INSTALLDIR/pm/db.
   run  "$INSTALLDIR/fm/bin/pm.bat s"
Restart FMServer, discover fabric. Add fabric to collection. Restart

FM and DM are working OK now!

Fabric Manager Web Client does not start (either with localhost or using ip address)

Rgds,

Ivy

Hello,

On or "good working" sa005265 Fabric Manager Server:

C:\Documents and Settings\jd04841.DOM001>netstat -a -n -o | findstr 0.0:80

TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 5304

TCP 0.0.0.0:8009 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 5304

This server works OK wih FM Web Client using localhost, IP or sa005265, local on server or remote Internet Explorer.

On our "bad working" sa005266

C:\Documents and Settings\jd04841>netstat -a -n -o | findstr 0.0:80

TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 4

We found a system service "4" taking port :80!

For some reason there were two web servers contending for the port MS IIS and Apache.

When MS IIS is de-installed everything works again for FM WEb Client on port :80 ;-))

Can it be that FM comes with MS IIS for version 4 and uses Apache for version 5?

We reinstalled from scratch FM version 5.

All is working now!
