FC port channels between MDS and UCS FI

Hello,

We have an existing uplink connection from UCS FI to MDS switch and vHBA's are pinned to uplink port.

We plan converting it to FC port-channel, what's the best practice on the conversion?

Should we expect outage on the hosts during the conversion?

Disabling the HBAs prior to recofiguring links in the san PC would probably be best.

i am assuming you have at least dual paths (A + B ) sides for FC connectivity?

If so, disabling one side at a time should only reduce throughput, until the vHBAs repin to the newly created san PC that carry the same vsan.

You can test one host at a time by disabling the vHBA in UCSM equipment view for the fabric side you want to test to confirm that host continues to use the other fabric side for storage connectivity..

Hi Kirk, thanks for your reply.
Yes we have dual paths (A + B ) sides for FC connectivity. Should we disable all A side vHBAs before converting it to PC? Or we can leave it on and just do the re-pin after the PC configuration?
