MDS9710 with 4 module DS-X9448-768K9 and want to expand to 5 plus a

  • Cisco MDS 24/10 port SAN Extension module (DS-X9334-K9)
  • Two supervisor DS-X97-SF1-K9

right now I have 3xDS-X9710-FAB1

NEW SWITCH

MDS9706 with 3 module DS-X9448-768K9

regarding MDS 9706:

Table 1. Number of Fabric Modules needed according to ports running at 32 Gbps performance in a 48-port 32-Gbps linecard

# of ports Running at (Performance) # of fabric modules needed Restrictions
24 32 Gbps 3 Other 24 ports shut down
32 32 Gbps 4 Other 16 ports shut down
40 32 Gbps 5 Other 8 ports shut down
48 32 Gbps 6 No restrictions

Cisco MDS 9710 Director Crossbar Fabric Modules

The Cisco MDS 9710 Director supports up to six crossbar fabric modules. The crossbar fabric module (DS-X9710-FAB1) is designed specifically for the Cisco MDS 9710 Director. The crossbar fabric modules are installed vertically in slots 21 through 26, numbered from left to right, at the back of the chassis behind the fan modules. A minimum of 3 crossbar fabric modules are required to deliver full line rate and bandwidth for the switch. A fourth crossbar fabric module is required for N+1 protection.

Walter, thank you very much.
I saw that information, With the MDS 9710 and we will acquire the 4 crossbar to have the N + 1.
But at traffic / bandwidth level we have a way to see the current consumption / counters and see if it is required to put an additional one. My SAN is very busy and we have a Port-channel between the two rooms. That's why my concern.

With respect to the MDS9706 that will be new equipment to replace my old MDS9513, I get nothing that indicates the minimum or how many crossbar I need to have the N + 1.
Do you have any idea with this model?
