Hi
I'll soon have a FC fabric that will include both McData and Cisco MDS 9216 switches. These switches will be interconnected. Is there one tool that I can use to manage the whole, mixed fabric, or must I use the Cisco tool to manage the 9216, and the McData tool to manage the McDatas? Currently we're using EMC Connectrix Manager to manage the McDatas, but I can't find any information to tell me whether ECM will also manage non-McData switches.
Thanks!

I cannot authoritively speak for the MCData so this is a general suggestion but I think it would work if there is an E/ISL port between them. Instead of using SNMPv3 on the FM into the MDS, configure SNMPv2 community strings the same as what you have in the MCData. Then, when Fabric manager comes up on your workstation, unclick the SNMPv3 option and input the SNMPv2 community strings.

Does McData support E/ISLs? I thought it was proprietary to Cisco gear...

No, a McData will not support an EISL link. The E indicates vsan information will flow. Since they do not do VSANs, there is not an EISL link as it pertains to the MDS product when connecting to a McData product.
