I JUST STARTED LEARNING ABOUT CCNA.SO PLEASE DO NOT DEEM MY QUESTION TO BE RIDICULOUS AND SO....

MY QUESTION IS THIS:

I READ THAT HUBS ARE PRONE TO COLLISION AND THAT SWITCHES ARE USED TO GET FULL USE OF BANDWIDTH.

THIS BEING SAID,HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO SHARE A DSL CONNECTION USING WINDOWS INTERNET CONN. SHARING ,A CABLE MODEM AND A H.U.B WHEN ,IF BOTH PCS ARE ONLINE,THEY WILL BE BOTH SENDING AND RECEIVING INFORMATION OR WILL THEY HAVE TO GO THROUGH CSMA/CD ALL THE TIME .

THANK YOU.

I APPRECIATE UR HELP

Hubs are prone to collision because it is a unintelligent device and has only one collision domain. In the case of Switch each connection between two ports have a collision domain and hence collison is avoided.Coming to Internet connection Sharing the principle is this. One computer acts as a gateway for all the other computers who want access to the internet. All packets destined to the internet must go through the gateway computer.
