MDS 9132T fc port config help

I have a pair of MDS 9132T on 8.4(2a), I have previously successfully configured fresh fc ports, when going to use a port that was pre-populated with an SFP (just to imply some previous config may have existed) I assigned the vsan, however I noticed a problem. In try to rectify the problem on one switch I have made it worse....

Here is the switch ports in question, could you offer any advice?

1. Untouched port with original issue:

fc1/8 is up
Hardware is Fibre Channel, SFP is short wave laser w/o OFC (SN)
    Port WWN is 20:08:00:3a:9c:17:1c:f0
    Peer port WWN is 10:00:94:40:c9:ce:97:30
Admin port mode is F, trunk mode is off
snmp link state traps are enabled
Port mode is F, FCID is 0x0c00a0
    Port vsan is 31
Admin Speed is auto max 32 Gbps
    Operating Speed is 16 Gbps
    Rate mode is dedicated
    Port flow-control is R_RDY

    Transmit B2B Credit is 80
    Receive B2B Credit is 32
    B2B State Change: Admin(on), Oper(down)
Receive data field Size is 2112
    Beacon is turned off
    Logical type is edge
    5 minutes input rate 0 bits/sec,0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec
    5 minutes output rate 0 bits/sec,0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec
      56 frames input,7252 bytes
        0 discards,0 errors
        0 invalid CRC/FCS,0 unknown class
        0 too long,0 too short
      56 frames output,3808 bytes
        0 discards,0 errors
      3 input OLS,3 LRR,3 NOS,0 loop inits
      4 output OLS,0 LRR, 1 NOS, 0 loop inits
    32 receive B2B credit remaining
    80 transmit B2B credit remaining
80 low priority transmit B2B credit remaining

2. Very broken port (on other switch)

fc1/8 is down (Link failure or not-connected)
Hardware is Fibre Channel, SFP is short wave laser w/o OFC (SN)
    Port WWN is 20:08:00:3a:9c:16:d5:f0
Admin port mode is F, trunk mode is off
snmp link state traps are enabled
    Port vsan is 41

Receive data field Size is 2112
    Beacon is turned off
    Logical type is edge
    5 minutes input rate 0 bits/sec,0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec
    5 minutes output rate 0 bits/sec,0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec
      81 frames input,10624 bytes
        0 discards,0 errors
        0 invalid CRC/FCS,0 unknown class
        0 too long,0 too short
      81 frames output,5296 bytes
        0 discards,0 errors
      5 input OLS,5 LRR,6 NOS,0 loop inits
      9 output OLS,0 LRR, 2 NOS, 0 loop inits
Interface last changed at Fri Feb 5 15:30:52 2021

I have tried to recover the port as it now has the Logical type as edge set, however the following are still missing:

Port mode is F, FCID is 0x??????
Transmit B2B Credit is 80
Receive B2B Credit is 32
B2B State Change: Admin(on), Oper(up), Negotiated Value(14)
fec is enabled by default

Can someone please offer some explanation (and possible resolution) to the B2B State Change: Admin(on), Oper(down) and any advise on how to restore the port I have mucked up?

Many thanks in advance,

Simon

So using DCNM I was able to identify the port was set to a fixed speed, after setting to auto I now have both ports in the same state - They show as up, clearly the HBA WWN is visible to the port, however I am still not able to see this port from my SAN and the following is still shown on both ports:

B2B State Change: Admin(on), Oper(down)

The only known difference I have between this and working ports is that the SAN is running at 32GB end-to-end, however the host has a 32GB SFP in the HBA and a 16GB SFP that was fitting into the switch at the time. At this stage the physical medium is clearly in my sights, however I would be keen to hear if anyone has perhaps observed such behaviour in the past.
