MDS 9148 ports

Hi,

I have a MDS 9148s configured with NPIV, all my ports are connected to EMC, my question is,, one of the ports is set in FL mode automatically.

And I don’t understand why this is happening?

what's connected to that port, tape drive/library ?

as dynamoxxx mentions, tapelibraries still have some default behaviour of NL ports; however, it should be possible to force them to N port.

Sorry for the delay, I have an EMC device, I’m trying to find out exactly what is ,as dynamoxxx, asked, but the strange thing is that I have the same devices connected to other ports, and all the ports are in F mode.

Did you try to fix this MDS port to F (instead of FL), and see if the end device can handle it.

No, I did not do that test, you will mean to force type the port? right?

Yes, I mean not auto negogiation the port type, but set it fix to F. If it doesn't work, it means that this end device does only support NL !
