Hello Folks,

   I got a general question...

I have a MDS9509 with the following modules:

1 24 1/2/4 Gbps FC Module DS-X9124 ok
2 24 1/2/4 Gbps FC Module DS-X9124 ok
3 12 1/2/4 Gbps FC Module DS-X9112 ok
4 12 1/2/4 Gbps FC Module DS-X9112 ok
5 0 Supervisor/Fabric-2 DS-X9530-SF2-K9 ha-standby
6 0 Supervisor/Fabric-2 DS-X9530-SF2-K9 active *

And I want to add a 4 port IPS module to stretch our Fabric Over the WAN for Data Replication.

The module that I want to add appears to be a DS-X9304-SMIP (4 port GIG IPS module).

I currently have Enterprise Licensing on the MDS.

the first question I have will I have enough power for the MDS if I want to add this module?

Power Supply:
Voltage: 42 Volts
-----------------------------------------------------
PS Model Power Power Status
(Watts) (Amp)
-----------------------------------------------------
1 DS-CAC-2500W 2331.00 55.50 Ok
2 DS-CAC-2500W 2331.00 55.50 Ok

And the 2nd question is do I need to add a license for the IPS? With the enterprise license I currently have I don't think so but I want to be sure.

Thanks,

-ACS

Hello,

You can run the command

show environment power

This will tell you how much power available to use

Mod Model Power Power Power Power Status
Requested Requested Allocated Allocated
(Watts) (Amp) (Watts) (Amp)
--- ------------------- ------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------

 DS-X9304-18K9 199.50 4.75 199.50 4.75 Powered-Up
 DS-X9304-18K9 199.50 4.75 199.50 4.75 Powered-Up

The DS-X9304 need around 199 watt to operate. So for 4 you will need 800 watt
