Migration from Brocade to MDS9000 Issues

Dan Man

We are attempting a migration from three brocade switches, to 2 Cisco MDS 9000's. None of us have very much experience with storage networking, so we're hoping that someone can guide us.

Here's what we've done so far.

  1. Created VSAN's on both MDS's (VSAN 32 on the first and VSAN 36 on the 2nd)
  2. Created the ISL trunks between the Brocades and MDS's
  3. Started moving fiber connections off of the Brocades and onto the MDS's. These are new fiber runs.

Our issue is that we cannot see any of the tape libraries, once we move the connections. On one of the Windows servers, we do see some of the tape libraries, but not all. It looks as though all of the zones, zonesets and fcaliases have come over with no problem. I've set the mode, and the trunking to auto, for the ports that the tape libraries and servers connect to.

One of my concerns is that we should not have created the VSAN's manually, but have allowed the import to create them (if that's possible).

Any help would be much appreciated, and would greatly help us. Thanks for taking the time to view this.

u got 2 fabrics ?

Vineesh,

Thank you for your response!  That is correct.  We have two fabrics.  We're trying to migrate off of the Brocades, so for a short period of time, we have the Brocades and the MDS's in production.  Once we migrate off of the Brocades, we're going to shut them down.  Again, thank you for taking the time to help!
