Question for transit vsan

I had below configurations at my Cisco switches:

1. Cisco switch 1:vsan 1 and vsan9

2. Cisco switch 2:vsan 1 and vsan9

Vsan1 of switch1, operation of all ports:notrunk,  vsan9 of switch1, operation:trunk, the port is trunking and connected to switch2 vsan9

Vsan1 of swtich2, operations of all ports, notrunk. vsan9 of switch2, operation:trunk, the port is truning and connected to switch1 vsan9

As my understanding vsan9 is transit vsan for these 2 switch, how about vsan1? is it a transit vsan also? And do we have a CLI command to identify the transit vsan?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Steven

VSAN 1 is very Special, and should never be used for operational purposes. same applies btw. for vlan 1 ! Every FC, FCoE interface by default is in VSAN 1.

Transit VSAN's are usually used

- when 2 sites are linked with FC, and a fabric merge is not desired !

- IVR is therefore used to route between each site and the transit VSAN.

see eg.
