SCSI disk to iSCSI question

Greetings,

Perhaps someone here may have an answer to this. The other day someone approached me and asked would it be possible to somehow get a SCSI disk array available as iSCSI. It seems that HP have some sort of solution for this but we did not discuss it all the fully. I think it might be the MSA1510i.

This led me to wonder does Cisco have anything like this?

I know there are other SCSI to FC routers available but I am not sure if they can provide iSCSI. I played with these devices a few years ago and did not rate them all that much as they seemed a bit flakey.

Any ideas on this?

Stephen

Stephen,

The MDS 9216i and the MDS IPS and MPS 14+2 modules can do iSCSI. These are the same products that can do FCIP. They will act as gateway between an iscsi initiator and FC target. Been in MDS since 2003. It superceded the Cisco SN54xx storage router.

My normal answer is to hook the Jbod to a server running linux and configure ISCSI Enterprise Target Daemon. Then export the block devices through that.
