Yesterday, our call center experienced a network outage that was caused for an unknown reason by our 2960x switch stack hanging or going numb. All network communications, specifically layer 3(routed) traffic would not pass through the switch until it was rebooted.
A look into the logs revealed an error message of, "still seeing receive traffic stuck after throttling."
I did some looking around and the only bug i can find that is somewhat close to the issue we experienced was, CSCed03214, but the conditions were not a perfect match. From what I can see we didn't have a device negotiate to half-duplex or send 1-byte frames. Unfortunately, other than that log message there were no other indications of a problem. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this issue?
Model of switch:
Cisco 2960X-48FPS-L
IOS: 15.2(6)E1
Stack of Four switches all the same model all running the same IOS.

Look for a crash file on the flash. Depending on the bug, sometimes the OS writes a crash file before rebooting.

Yes, you would need a support contract and CCO account to open a TAC case. Usually, they do open a TAC case if the support contract has recently expired and you are in the process of renewing it. But if it has been a long time since you had support than they will not cover them until you buy support again.
