Hello,
I need to add another switch to our core stack (3750X-24-T-E).
I have to update the IOS on the switch. So I downloaded the image file (c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin), from cisco, to match the other switches in the stack.
I got the device to boot to the new image but I get the follow error on boot:
warning unable to determine image authentication.image is either unsigned or is signed but corrupted
I have tried uploaded the file many times verify the file size is correct. I can also verify the md5 manually (verify /md5 c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin) and it checks out .
I just get the above message on boot up.
Any ideas? Can I safely use this image?
Thanks
Will

Don't ever try using IOS train 12.2(58)SE. Cisco has stopped developing/improving this version for a specific reason.
For stability on 3750-series switches, which the 3750X is a part of, use the latest (and final) 12.2(55)SE10.

Maybe the switch was configured for FIPS mode at some point:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750x_3560x/software/release/15-0_2_se/configuration/guide/3750x_cg/swipaddr.html#marker-1194169
Should be usable, if I understand the last part of that table correctly (it's just a warning)...
