Using Stackwise-Virtual for the first time here. I have two C9500-40X switches that have this incompatibility (even thought I bought them at the same time!):
*Apr 13 20:53:48.850: %IOSXE-3-PLATFORM: Switch 1 R0/0: Apr 13 20:53:48 issu_stack.sh: %BOOT-3-BOOTTIME_INCOMPATIBLE_SW_DETECTED: Incompatible software detected. Details: Chassis 2 is detected INCOMPATIBLE with software version of Active: FAILED: Version '16.06.02' mismatch with Active's running version '16.06.01' for package: 'guestshell'
So, I enabled auto upgrade on switch 1 - then when I bring switch 2 up, I see the above message, then:
*Apr 13 20:53:49.164: %IOSXE-5-PLATFORM: Switch 1 R0/0: Apr 13 20:53:49 auto_upgrade_client.sh: %AUTO_UPGRADE-5-AUTO_UPGRADE_INITIATED: Auto upgrade initiated for switch 2.
*Apr 13 20:53:49.182: %IOSXE-5-PLATFORM: Switch 1 R0/0: Apr 13 20:53:49 auto_upgrade_client.sh: %AUTO_UPGRADE-5-AUTO_UPGRADE_SEARCH: Searching stack for software to upgrade switch 2.
*Apr 13 20:53:49.193: %IOSXE-5-PLATFORM: Switch 1 R0/0: Apr 13 20:53:49 auto_upgrade_client.sh: %AUTO_UPGRADE-5-AUTO_UPGRADE_FOUND: Found donor switch 1 to auto upgrade switch 2.
*Apr 13 20:53:49.203: %IOSXE-5-PLATFORM: Switch 1 R0/0: Apr 13 20:53:49 auto_upgrade_client.sh: %AUTO_UPGRADE-5-AUTO_UPGRADE_START: Upgrading switch 2 with software from switch 1.
OK, that's nice, but then about 15 seconds later, I see this:
*Apr 13 20:54:04.158: %NIF_MGR-6-PORT_CONNECTION_STATUS_CHANGE: Switch 1 R0/0: nif_mgr: PORT lpn:1 changed state from Ready to Timeout.
*Apr 13 20:54:04.159: %HMANRP-5-CHASSIS_DOWN_EVENT: Chassis 2 gone DOWN!
*Apr 13 20:54:04.158: %NIF_MGR-6-PORT_CONN_TIMEOUT: Switch 1 R0/0: nif_mgr: Port 0, LPN 1 on front side stack link 0 connection has TIMEOUT: CONN_ERR_CONN_TIMEOUT_ERR
*Apr 13 20:54:04.158: %NIF_MGR-6-STACK_LINK_DOWN: Switch 1 R0/0: nif_mgr: Front side stack link 0 is DOWN.
*Apr 13 20:54:04.158: %STACKMGR-1-STACK_LINK_CHANGE: Switch 1 R0/0: stack_mgr: Stack port 1 on Switch 1 is down
*Apr 13 20:54:10.171: %IOSXE-3-PLATFORM: Switch 1 R0/0: Apr 13 20:54:10 auto_upgrade_client.sh: %AUTO_UPGRADE-3-AUTO_UPGRADE_FAILED_COPY: Failed to copy upgrade packages from switch 1 to switch 2.
So - the auto upgrade fails, and "Show switch" tells me switch 2 has been removed. So, what do I do now? Do I have to do some sort of manual upgrade of the software on both switches to get them in sync?

bumping this up, as there's no reply and it's still an issue - what do I do when auto-upgrade fails?
