C3850 port drops

NetwkP

Level 1

I am using a qnx computer with a Broadcom fiber card (1000 baseSX full duplex) connected to a C3850. The light on the switch port only flashes for a couple of minutes after rebooting the qnx computer, after that it stays off. I tried two ports and I have the same result, the port configuration and status are showing below. I know that the Broadcom fiber card is working because I used a Fiber optical media converter and connected to another computer and the link is up.

Broadcom <- fiber-> media converter <-Ethernet-> 2nd computer.

I also used the media converter to connect the second computer to the switch and the link is up.

2nd compuer <-Ethernet-> media converter <-Fiber-> C3850

The qnx computer also has a Ethernet card which I connected to the media converter into the switch and the link is up.

Qnx computer <-Ethernet-> media converter <-Fiber-> C3850.

Only when the there is a connection from the Broadcom to the switch the communication drops.

Does any body know what can be the root of the issue?

Check the fibre optic cable. Maybe is broken?

Leo, I used the same Fiber Cable that I was using to connect to the Media Converter. So fiber connection is not the problem.

Post the complete output to the following commands:
1. sh version;
2. sh idprom interface Ten 1/0/3;
3. sh idprom interface Ten 1/0/4

#sh version:

Try replacing one of these SFP with something that doesn't have a serial number that starts with an "A".

I'm trying to find a bug I read about issue(s) about SFPs made by Avago.

Can you try swapping the fiber strands on one side of the connection and test again?

HTH

I tried that, the light on the Broadcom Fiber card is normally on when I have it in the right position. If I swap the fibers on any of the two sides, it would turn off.
