Hi all,
I have encountered a rather strange issue last Friday with a Cisco 866-vae-k9 router. My monitoring system informed me that I had lost the ping to the WAN interface and after a quick troubleshooting it appeared that the router was not responding to ping and was not routing traffic.
This router has a WAN interface, a LAN interface, a Management interface and a Guest interface. The traffic was not going in and out of all those interfaces.
I later connected to the router with the console port and I was able to manage the router normally, there was no lag or delay when running/displaying the commands.
I ran a show tech-support command that output loads of information that I am not sure how to interpret.
I ran a show logging command that output lines but I only got a list of the events for Interface GE2 going up and down.
I tried shutodnw then no shutdown on the interfaces but it didn't resolve anything.
After about an hour on the router trying to understand what the issue was, I had to reload the router to try and get it back online (the client needed its internet).
After the reload the router was responding to ping and traffic was going through the interfaces normally.
I'm trying to figure out what the root cause of this issue was but I'm not sure where to start and where to look if it happens the next time.
Have you guys any idea?
Thanks
