Connecting 3750-X to Nexus FabricPath Switch

Hello all

We currently run some Nexus 5Ks in our DCs that run FabricPath. We have a requirement to connect up a single 3750-X switch to provide a number of copper ports temporarily (FEX is not an option).

I have read around connecting STP devices to an FP network and it's left me a little confused. Connecting a single 3750 with a single

connection obviously does not introduce any loops so is as simple as it goes from a Layer 2 perspective.

Other than ensuring that the 3750's STP priority is set to a high number prior to connecting is there anything that needs to be done to enable this to happen? What we really want is to allow some of the VLANs that exist on the Nexus's to be trunked to the 3750.

Thanks

Hi Just set the 3750 as a standard l2 port channel and on the 5ks set it as a vpc port-channel that's it

Here's a guide to show you how using a 6500 same method config as 3750 on access side

Hello Mark

Thanks for the speedy reply. We won't even be needing much port capacity so a port-channel is not required. We are not running vpc.

Presumably this doesn't change anything?

Thanks

Hi makes it lot easier a standard layer 2 connection will do access port or trunk depending on how many vlans that's all , like connecting any 2 switches together , obviously without vpc though you can only connect to 1 5k or if you connect to both 1 link will shut due to stp to stop a loop occurring

Thank you Mark
