i have not done router to router image transfer.
Logic says if you say no it shd copy without deleting.
Since it is ur production network i will say see if anybody who has done can confirm this.
While copying from PC tftp server to router i have not seen router asking to delete old image.
I saw that erase command , while i was going through the document which explains router to router transfer.

i tried the same thing on my 2811 router to 2851 and it didnot ask me to erase file
after i gave destination file name it starts copying without asking any delete and its copying.
its copied without any problem as my router has space for 2 image
process took 2 mintues so maybe you can do it when you upgrade

Do you have tftpd32 installed on your laptop. If yes start it will show you ip address. See if you can ping that address from router (IF you have wireless connection on that computer disable it . your TFTPserver shd take your LAN IP.
Ifyou can ping from ur laptop to router/, then u have to just copy with command.
copy tftp flash
see this link also it has complete info

I have tftp32.. I can ping my laptop..
r1#show flash
-#- --length-- -----date/time------ path
1 24165624 Sep 26 2008 02:20:40 -04:00 c3745-ipvoice-mz.123-11.T.bin
8159232 bytes available (24166400 bytes used)
the file that I dwld is about 18,206,720 bytes.. it does look like I have enought space in there .. Do I?

IF i am not wrong i think you dont have space for 2 image.
8,159,232 bytes available (24,166,400 bytes used)
you have 8,159,232 bytes (Approx 8MB) available wghereas your new files is 18,206,720 (18MB)
You have to delete the old one to make space for this.
U can check once again

That is weird ... on cisco site it says
c3745-ipbasek9-mz.124-23.bin
Release Date: 12/Nov/2008
IP BASE
Size: 17778.43 KB (18205112 bytes)
Minimum Memory: DRAM:128 MB Flash:32 MB
but when I save it on my pc and I do properties it shows 17.3 MB (18,206,720 bytes)
why is that ?

Your router 2 i think that day took 2 image why dont you transfer first there use verify command .This way u will have less troubles.
command like this you can refer to link there is already in earlier message,
2600#verify flash:c2600-adventerprisek9-mz.124-12.bin
Because if this file is corrupt, it will not boot ur router. A guy have similar problem few days back where the size was not matching and that image gave error message. He has enough space for another image but you dont have.
you can downlaod once again and verify it before using it on production router to minimize problems.
