Hi everybody,
in the next few days i need to install a couple of C6800-16P10G line card on a vss of WS-C6513-E , one for appliance.
Reading the release note of the cards it is indicated that the minimum software release supported is the: 15.2(1)SY so i will upgrade from 15.1(2)SY4a to 15.2(1)SY8 that is the MD of the train.
Reading the release note of the 15.2(1)SY release:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/15-2SY/release_notes/15_2_release_notes.html#pgfId-5202993
i saw that for a previous release of that train (15.2(1)SY4) there is this restriction:
- If you use the linecards with the hardware version, IOS, and ROMMON versions listed in the table below, you can experience the following failures as the older IOS versions do not support the required new flash

- Onboard Failure Logging (OBFL) feature will not work, since IOS will not be able to save data to non-volatile memory (flash).
- Manual Rommon upgrade using CLI will not work.
At this time i don't know the HW version of the card but i know the rommon version of the sup and the other card in production:
12.2(50r)SYS
Do you think that this issue is relate only to the version 15.2(1)SY4 or that is fixed whit the following releases ?
If I understand correctly only when all three conditions are manifested ( matching of HW VERS - IOS - ROMMON Version) the issue could occur and there is no fixed release for this restriction.
let me know if you think that this evaluation is correct,
byean thank you,
