problem with vlans on 878

Hi all,

I need a bit of help getting a second vlan on my 878. I'm pretty sure it can be done, as we have another 878 with it working.

I can't add a vlan to the vlan database:

878-A#vlan 2

Vlan can not be added. Maximum number of 1 vlan(s) in the database.

878-A# sh vlans

No Virtual LANs configured.

878-A#sh run int vlan 2

!

interface Vlan2

description WAN OUTSIDE interface

ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.248

878-A#sh int vlan 2

Vlan2 is up, line protocol is down

Here's it working on another 878, even though it also shows no vlans:

878-B#sh vlans

No Virtual LANs configured.

878-B#sh int vlan2

interface Vlan2

description WAN OUTSIDE interface

ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.248

878-B#sh int fa3

interface FastEthernet3

switchport access vlan 2

duplex full

speed 100

878-B#sh int vlan 2

Vlan2 is up, line protocol is up

Can you try to upgrade your IOS.

In my router 878, i have :

Router#sh vlan-switch

VLAN Name Status Ports

---- -------------------------------- --------- -------------------------------

1 default active Fa1, Fa2

10 data_vlan active

30 ITS_vlan active Fa0

999 mngt_vlan active

1002 fddi-default act/unsup

1003 token-ring-default act/unsup

1004 fddinet-default act/unsup

1005 trnet-default act/unsup

I i try to make one more Vlan :

telane-bruss009(vlan)#vlan 111

Vlan can not be added. Maximum number of 4 vlan(s) in the database.

My IOS :

I will try upgrading to Adv IP Services. One question - how do I do this when flash is 2 small to hold existing and new image? I've not done this before...

I had the same issue and i didn't want to upgrade the flash.
