The "Show Inventory Raw" command doesn't display serial numbers for GBICS on my second WS-6516 blade on my 6509. Is there a way to retrieve this information?
Thanks

Hi,
You can determine the serial number of the chassis and other components with use of the show idprom command
Try with command Switch#show idprom interface
Hope to help !!

Thanks,
That command will come in handy, but it won't retrieve information from any of the (16) interfaces on that module.
ITN7_6509#show idprom module 2
IDPROM for module #2
(FRU is 'SFM-capable 16 port 1000mb GBIC')
OEM String = 'Cisco Systems'
Product Number = 'WS-X6516A-GBIC'
Serial Number = 'STT1242029N'
Manufacturing Assembly Number = '73-9052-06'
Manufacturing Assembly Revision = 'A0'
Hardware Revision = 4.6
Current supplied (+) or consumed (-) = -3.62A
ITN7_6509#show idprom interface gigabitEthernet 2/1
Unable to retrieve idprom information
ITN7_6509#
Do you think this is a physical layer issue?

Hi,
It' really strange as show inventory raw command, which retrieves information about all of the Cisco products installed in the networking device, even if the entities do not have a product ID (PID) value.
Chek out the below link for determining the serial numbers of component for switches,Hope to help

THat s/n doesn't seem to be a Cisco-approved GBIC.

I found that the hardware version is different on the two modules. The first module has a version of 4.6 while the second is 4.7.
