Simple VLAN question (two devices, diff vlans)

I have two different 3750s, each is just a stand alone lab switch (no connections to each other).  I have a test network on switch1 (vlan10) that is 10.10.10.0/24.  The same network (10.10.10.0/24) exists on switch2 as vlan 101.

I need to connect the two networks together.  I don't want to use trunks, or change the vlans on each switch.  Can I have two ports in access mode in different vlans, connected via a crossover cable?

So on switch1 I would have an access port in vlan10 connected via crossover to an access port in vlan101 on switch2?

Yes, this would work. I could add a lot of if's and but's and this type of solution is certainly not recommended for ease of administration but bottomline is that it will work. So that's easy answer.
