Folks,
I wanted to check if we can plug in GLC-SX-MM modules on the SUP-8 E? The release notes I read mention that we can use them on the SUP8-E but when I look at the sh ip int brief output from the switch this does not mention any 1G interfaces.
in short will the SUP8E support 1 Gig uplink interfaces?

If the command is not present then the IOS should be able to auto-detect the SFP/SFP+ used.

Use the command "hw-module uplink select ?" to choose your uplink

I am not able to get this feature. I am running version .03.03.01.XO.151-1.
I hope that is not a problem.
sw-edge-ind-pun4-b1f(config)#hw-module ?
module Specify a linecard slot for the hw-module command
slot Specify a linecard slot for the hw-module command
system Specify the system parameter
sw-edge-ind-pun4-b1f(config)#hw-module
I only want to bring specific ports on 1 Gig.

The SUP8-E shows the active LED on ports 1-4 as active and does not show any LED on ports 5-8.
I was using 5/5 for all the testing now. As soon as I inserted the SFP in 5/3 it shows me the light and shows the BW on the port as 1000Mbps. :-)
Now, how do I also get the ports 5-8 as active?
Thanks,
N.

This has been resolved. The auto detect worked.
