Unable to create subinterfaces on C9200L

Hello everyone,

Im trying to create subinterfaces on a routed interface in a C9200L however I'm unable to do this.

The configuration guide is contradicting where at one place it mentions that subinterfaces are not supported and at a second point it states that sub interfaces are supported.

Reference guide

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst9200/software/release/16-12/configuration_guide/int_hw/b_1612_int_and_hw_9200_cg/configuring_interface_characteristics.html#concept_nzz_ws3_b1b

Appreciate your support

MM.

Hi,

I don't think you can configure subinterface on the 9200 series. You can  just use SVIs instead of subinterfaces.

The device does not support Layer 3 trunks; you cannot configure subinterfaces or use the encapsulation keyword on Layer 3 interfaces. The device does support Layer 2 trunks and Layer 3 VLAN interfaces, which provide equivalent capabilities.
