Hi guys,
We have a Cisco Router with "c1841-ipbase-mz.124-3i.bin" ios and we would like to upgrade to new one (S184ASK9-15103T).
The problem is that this new ios require 192 DRAM and our router only has 128.
If we buy a 256 Mb PC133 DRAM it works in our router ? Can you confirm please ?
Router specification:
> Cisco IOS Software, 1841 Software (C1841-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(3i), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
> ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.4(13r)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
> Cisco 1841 (revision 7.0) with 114688K/16384K bytes of memory.
> 31488K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)
Thanks in advance
Eric

You really to open it up and check the ram that's in in and make sure you match it exactly , 256 ram will work fine but it needs to be a match of whats currently in use or you will probably end up with some issue
cover slides back on 1841 there easy to open just don't do it when its powered on , there not hot swappable parts

Thanks Mark for the quickly answer !!
Well, we don't have any ram inside router, the 128 Mb its integrated in motherboard.
By cli I can see 1 empty slot so we will buy a 256 ram as you say, right ?
Dimm 0 SPD data :
Memory Slot Empty
Thanks

sorry only getting back now missed the email
does anything at all show up , usually that means the RAM is no good but if you just bought it doesn't seem right
what do you mean by --it turns on but don't charge.
Usually if RAM is bad router wont show anything on terminal at all
there is nothing to installing these but here is the vid in case did some other way

the 128 should be removable like video

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the answer.
I mean that when i plug-in the ram, the fan and hardware works but don't appear anything on the console.
My slot are empty, I don't have 128 memory ram before.

Hi
its definitely a cisco approved version of ram yes ?
I see other users had issues upgrading aswell but mostly due to non approved ram or trying to put 512 in and maxing it , they definitely support 256 shouldn't be an issue

whenever RAM has not worked for me in the past before its usually unsupported or not working , have you tried reseating it a couple of times just in case , I don't remember ever have to anything specific apart from pop it in
just checking couple of other things here online to see if there are any other options we can try
