Uploading boot image to MSFC via XModem fails due to timer event

Hi,

We have two 6509's with redundant SUP1A-MSFC running IOS v 121-27b.E1, one of the SUP's MSFC bootflash bootfile got corrupted, so we went ahead and were trying to upload the files via xmodem as thats the only way, but we are able to keep the xmodem transfer running for only about 3-4 minutes, and then the upload will hang (commands used in rommon mode xmodem -y -s38400 / xmodem -s38400 / xmodem -c / xmodem, nothing helps), on the active SUP the logs show:

00:11:43: %ONLINE-SP-6-TIMER: Module 1, Proc. 0. Failed to bring online because of timer event
00:11:44: %PFREDUN-SP-6-ACTIVE: Standby processor removed or reloaded, changing to Simplex mode

just after these logs the xmodem transfer fails.

If we working with a single SUP (no redundancy), we get a

*** System received a Software forced crash ***

Any ideas on how to recover/upload the image to MSFC bootflash
As the switches are without warranty and no RMA's are possible :-)

thanks
RB
