Hello, I have running VSS (WS-C6509-V-E, SUP720) which looking to upgrade from IOS SXH5 to SXI6.
I came accross with some information that I should upgrade boot image too ? I looked under sh boot but
I do not see that there should be used any boot image. Under sh ver I can see only in addition -
System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(17r)SX7. So the question is - when is that boot image used ? Is it applicable
only in specific hardware scenarious and not applicable for me ?
On Cisco download page you can find IOS s72033-ipbasek9-mz.122-33.SXI6.bin + boot image s72033-boot-mz.122-33.SXI7.bin
Also somewhere it was saying that those versions have to match.
And also another question - do I need to upgrade rommon in this case ?
switch#sh rom-monitor switch 1 slot 1
Region F1: INVALID
Region F2: INVALID
Currently running ROMMON from S (Gold) region
Thanks for claryfing

That BootROM is used when booting the RP. There's another BootROM that's used booting the SP. You probably don't need to upgrade either, but the release notes should have additional details.
