Hi there,

Are you seeing these commands in configuration examples?

Cisco CLI can perform command auto-complete on minimal input. Under an interface 'switch' expands to 'switchport' so switch mode and switchport mode are in fact the same command.

cheers,

Seb.

They are the same thing.

switch mode is short for switchport mode

HTH

so they do the same thing? like switch mode access does the same thing as switchport mode access ?

Correct. If you issue switch and then press the tab key, it will complete it for you by showing switchport. So, they are the same thing. switch is short for switchport.
