H323 Authentication using local accounts on VCS

Hello All,

I’m after a bit of advice on the subject of H.323 authentication.

I have configured credentials on the VCSc+e within the device local accounts field, then set the default zone and subzones to “check credentials”.

On the endpoint (SX20) under the H.323 setting I have configured a username, password and turned the authentication mode on.

After rebooting the VCS rejects the endpoint and the endpoint OSD user interface is not accessible, have you got any idea as to why this is happening? I have check online documentation regarding H.32 authentication on the VCS and SX20 and can’t find any reason myself.

I should have mentioned before configuring the devices for authentication I had successfully registred (H323) the endpoint to the VCS and made calls

Can you please provide some advice, if you know of any configuration / licensing may be required to get this working?

Regards,

Rob

A couple of things here: The issue of not authenticating a registration and the loss of access to the endpoints OSD are 2 different issues. Also, for device (endpoint) registration, you do not need to set the Default Zone to CHeckCredentials. The registration requests would be sent to the sub-zones, and that is where the CheckCredential setting would apply. I would first recommend looking at a diagnostic log capture taken on the VCS to view the registration process and the associated failure. It is quite possible that more information regarding the failure would be available there.
