Our shop is currently running out of internic addresses. We want to migrate to a private IP while retaining dual-ip connectivity to WINS,DHCP servers. Has anyone had success with this? We have 1 Cisco 3600 wan router and Cat 2900xl's supporting the LAN.

We tried to migrate slowly and ended up with a mess. Its best to schedule an outage and migrate over a weekend or nights or something. In a large enterprise, you might need to setup some new WINS and DHCP servers and run them in parallel through the migration. Carefully think about your new addressing scheme so this is only a one-time thing. Its a huge project.

I totally agree it is a big project. I have done this twice and managed to pull it off without any major problems.
Good design and pre-migration documentation are the key.
Technically:
almost every device (your router, your servers, your desktops) all allow secondary addressing. Use this feature extensively. do a pilot migration and then go for the mass!
I am sure from here you can take on!
