Does ISR 4000 support gNMI Protocol?

I would like to enable gNMI protocol on a Cisco ISR 4300 router. According to this cisco document gNMI protocol should be suported on ISR 4000 since version 17.8.1.

My router is running ver. 17.9.2 and the gnxi command is not supported.

Router(config)#gnxi
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

Router(config)#gnxi ?
% Unrecognized command
Router(config)#

The command works fine on my Catalyst 9300 and a Cisco 900 router.

Can anyone confirm whether it is really supported on ISR 4K?

Hi Balaji,

I have appxk9 and securityk9.

Note that I'm asking for the feature on a ISR 4K. In the link that you sent, ISR 4000 is not mentioned.

Best regards.

i was generic posted from 17.1X supported, when I look back feature navigator some how did not show that supports : 17.9.1a

https://cfnng.cisco.com/  (I did not find 17.8 or 17.9)

Is "gnmi-yang" there?

Router(config)#gn?

Hi @miott
No. I tried that as well. Nothing.

No, gNMI is not supported on ISR4k platforms.

Well we ended up opening a TAC ticket for this. Cisco confirmed that the documentation was wrong and that gNMI is actually not supported neither on ISR4K nor on ISR1000. They corrected the documentation (at least on the link I sent them. On other versions of the document for 17.9 is still says that it is supported on ISR4k and ISR1000. Like here for instance. Still waiting for TAC to confirm whether there is a planned date when it actually might be supported on those platforms (if any).

A vendor like cisco should not be making such mistakes.
