Getting presence status for non contact users

Hello

We have just finished installing the latest Cisco Presence server and CUPC clients (v8.5.51).

Everything is working just fine, except for one disturbing issue:

We are using exchange 2010 and outlook 2010. Inside outlook I can see the presence of users that are in my CUPC contact list great.

The problem is when I try to see a person presence status in outlook, and that person is not in my CUPC contacts. In this case, all I'm getting is a gray presence status.

What am I missing here?

Do I have to put all the people in my organization in my CUPC contacts just to see their presence status in Outlook? It does not seem the logical thing to do.
