Unity Connection 7.x Digital Networking Directory Replication

Hi,

Has anyone experienced setting up a Unity Connection 7.x Digital Networking with sites having 2 to 3 thousands users?

I am currently setting up such a Digital Networking and the Directory Replication is taking extremely long.  I have 3 sites with a 400+, 200+ and 300+ users networked up already.  I just added another site of 2000 users and the Directory replication has been on going for more then 24 hrs and it is still crawling very slowly.  Is this normal?  The Unique Sequence Numbers (USNs) are only incrementing after every few hours.  At this rate it is going, it looks like it will take a few days for the Directory to sync.  I still have another 2 sites with 2 to 3 thousand each and the total number of users at the end state is about 10,000.  I am concern that this will take a very long time to fully sync.

Just want to know if anyone has experienced the same issues before.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Daniel

Digital networking really relies on Active Directory.   If you are GC/DCs slow in replicating information, then Unity Digital Networking will be slow updating around the Unity servers.    Make sure you Unity server is connected to a local DC is it's primary.    You may want to toggle around with GC/DC reconnection and then start and stop Unity services to "kick it".   Also, if the Unity server was ever rebuilt, I have seen the OUs in AD be left with orphaned ldap items that cause issue with digital networking.

There are a few log files to check on in Unity that you will want to pay attention to.  When a directory replication takes place, there will be an event marked as it started.  Then it will have a finished event with what it did exactly. (event viewer)

Hi Tommer,

Thanks for you reply.  However, I am currently running Unity Connection and not Unity.

Have you seen such slow replication on a Unity Connection Digital Network?

Regards

Daniel
