Hello, everyone.I was labbing MSDP today and I would like to ask what is considered the best design. For example, consider this topology:Everyone here is peering via BGP. R1-XR and R4 are directly peering over MSDP and that's the only MSDP peering th...
Hello, everyone.I've been studying Bidir PIM and I hit a huge roadblock. Here is my topology (there are no sources or receivers yet, only BIDIR-PIM is enabled)On R1, the output is the following:I always thought that this entry says "if any multicast ...
Hello, everyone.I have a fairly short question, what is the difference between the NS (Negate-Signal) flag and S (Signal) flags in the output of the multicast routing table in IOS-XR? I see these two fairly oftenFor example:My book (IP Routing on on ...
Hello, everyone. This is my topology:R1-XR is the RP. R1-XR and R3-XR are the only routers running multicast and PIM. The other routers are only running OSPF. There is reachability between R1-XR and R3-XR. My goal is to have R1-XR tunnel the multicas...
Hello, everyone.I have some questions about the AutoRP mRIB entries that are created for 224.0.1.39/40.When a router is enabled for multicast routing, it automatically joins 224.0.1.40 (which is used to announce the RP mappings). However, we still ha...

Hello M02@rt37 Thank you for the response. My book states that non-DFs can forward packets from the link toward downstream receivers. So shouldn't R1's G2 interface also be amongst the incoming interfaces? Since it therefore techically is one of the ...
Hello M02@rt37
The original intention behind AS_SET was to preserve the AS information and prevent potential forwarding loops. If AS_SET is not used, how can they be mitigated? Could they even occur in the first place?
