And from the link provided earlier by MHM Cisco World, "Also, some transceivers like the QSFP-100G-SR-BD and QSFP-40G-SR-BD don’t have breakout capability..." So... I guess that's my answer.

That is true - While it does break it out to the 4 interfaces on the Nexus side and I can see them all (and I enabled all of them just to make sure that something had light going through) - I still wasn't able to get a connection with the SFP interfa...

Yes - that was the first route, it's on order, but the lead time on the part is beyond the requirements. 
