This is resolved, at least for this occasion. With TACs assistance, we logged into the CLI as root, got into the underlying Oracle DB, and changed a value in the SEC_HOSTCONFIG table from SECONDARY to PRIMARY using a SQL statement. Primary admin role...
On with TAC now. They say no known issues on 3.5P3 relevant to this issue.Have used their root access to the underlying DB, rewritten the node status (to Primary) and we seem to be getting somewhere.

Thanks for the responses so far.What I mean is that I want to purge obsolete endpoint data on the existing platform before running the export, so that the data imported into the new build contains only endpoints seen in the last 60 days (for example)...
