What if the tunnel shows established however the pings are not successful? what would you suggest would be a good way to troubleshoot?

Did you get this resolved, if so how? I am seeing exactly the same issue, VPN seems up via the admin interface however can't seem to ping the default gateway at either side of the tunnel.
