show ip bgp neighbors advertised-routes won’t show the MED on your side and that’s normal. You should check it with debug ip bgp updates or just look on the neighbor’s side.
The free CML version might not come with base images so you’ll need to grab them separately ( with a subscription) and add them in before starting nodes.
With warm-spare MX, if traffic hits the standby in a criss-cross setup, it’ll probably just get dropped since only the active one passes traffic until failover occurs.
