Can anyone put me out of my misery here, I bet it's simple......
My switch in packet tracer lets me put anything as a host name as per the output below, it seems to ignore these rules:
The name must also follow the rules for ARPANET host...
Router(config-if)#ip address 192.168.8.0 255.255.255.0
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
Any ideas anyone? Router is a 819HGW.

Aha...it probably is a layer 2 port only then as the no switchport commandalso fails. All 4 of the ethernet interfaces are behaving like this.Is there a definitive way of determining if a port is a layer 2 port only?
