Cisco released PDM 3.0(3) which seems to work with java 1.5. I tested on our test PIX and could connect to the PDM after upgrading.

I was getting the same error. I see that there is an updated PDM, ver 3.0(3) that was released on April 13th. I tested it on a spare pix and the PDM worked fine with Java JRE 5.0.
