Hi,      I have the following scenario: Fout points (A, B, C, D). I have to connect A with C, and A with D; but the problem is that I don't have line of sight between those point, so I have two possibilities: 1) I can configure three point-to-point links: A<->B, B<->C, B<->D. In this case I need six bridges (two for each point-to-point) and one switch in order to connect the three bridges' ethernet ports in the B point. All bridges (BR1300) would work in bridge mode. So, what is sent by the bridge in point A would be received by one of the bridges in point B, that frame would be forwarded to its ethernet port, would arrive to the others bridges' ethernet ports through the switch, and would be retransmited by the others two bridged via wireless to the bridges in point C and D. In this case I could use in each six bridges directional antennas in order to improve the SNR of the wireless link.    Advantage of this case: 54 Mbps dedicated to each three point-to-point wireless links beacuse each one would work in different channels.    Disadvantage of this case: I would have to buy 6 bridges and one switch. 2) This is the case I need help from you because I don't know if I can do it and if so, in which mode I would have to configure each bridge/AP. In this case of course I have the same four points (A, B, C and D) and the same positions for each one. But what I want to do is to place one bridge/AP in point A, one in point B, one in point C and one in point D. In point B bridge/AP I would put an omnidirectional antenna and in the other ones a directional antennas. What I want to do is that what is transmited by bridge in point A to bridge in point B, would be repeated by this last bridge to bridges in point C and D. The question is: Can I do this configuration? In this case, what equipments would I need to use in each point (APs or Bridges)? In which mode each one? In this case, the configuration would be point-to-multipoint (point would be the B station and multipoint would be stations A, C and D). What is necessary to know is that I have wired access to LAN in points A, C and D but not in point B. Point B would be used only as a repeater station.    Advantage of this case: I only would have to buy 4 equipments instead of six and I wouldn't need a switch neither.    Disadvantage: I would be sharing the 54 Mbps between all three wireless links. Hi,      I'm having a problem in one of my customers with the WiFi network. There are two different issues:   1) The first one is that very often the clients get connected to one of the SSIDs but instead of connect to the nearest AP they connect to a further one, with so less level signal than the one that is closer.   2) The second problem is that when they are connected, suddenly they get disconnected. And most of the times, that happens with clients that were connected to far APs instead of the closer ones.    I know that the choice of which APs to connect to is a responsibility of the client and it's not of AP or WLC. But I don't know why clients are having this behavior.    The infrastructure is composed of one WLC (version 4.2.112) and 4 APs AIR-LAP1252G-A-K9. All the APs were mounted on the wall and they had fix antennas, so they were oriented horizontally. I thought the problem could be the orientation of them because their polarization (that is linear), so we took of all the APs from the wall and we put them on some desks in order for the antennas to get oriented vertically. Unfortunately that didn't change the behavior of clients and they still sudenly disconnect from the APs they are connected.     I thinks it's necesary tell you that the customer bought a pair of Linksys WRT line and he doesn't have any problem with those wireless routers (unbelievable!!!)     The next step we are gonna take is changing the WLC's software version, because 4.2.112 is a very old one. But I don't think that is going to solve the problem.     Onother thing, but I think it has nothing to do with the problem, is that the authentication is done y 802.1x and they use certificates to validate each computer or laptop. I repeat, I think this has nothing to do with the problem but we don't try to change the authentication method.     Lastly, we performed a site survey and the signal is very strong all over the floor where they are having problems. Of course, almost everywhere you always "see" the signal of the APs that is nearest and a weaker one of the APs that are further. They also have a lot of signal of another floors in the same building of another companies that introduce same interference, but as I told you, with the WiFi provided but the Linksys routers they don't have any problem. Hi,      I have two Wireless LAN Controllers 2504 and 8 APs 3502e. The WLCs are running software version 7.0.116.0. The problem is that I don't have the mesh option to configure indoor mesh inside the controller. In chapter 9 of Wireless LAN Controller Configuration Guide, Release 7.0.116.0 says that I have to go to Wireless Menu and select the AP. When I am inside the AP general page, the guide says I have to go to the Mesh tab, but that tab doesn't appear in the controller GUI. Do I have to use another image in the controller? Or do you have to use an special mesh code or something like that? Because in the download page of the controller it only appears the 7.0.116.0, two more new versions but there is nothing about mesh image. Thanks, Guido. ... View more
