Is there a cisco remmendation/best practice on how often switches should be rebooted ? I have some switches in my network that have been up for more than 5 years. Should they be rebooted for performance or some other reasons ?
I have a 6506 (720 sup) running IOS version 12.2(18)SXD2. If I remove a module it is not reflected in the config. Is there a way to synch the config with the actual hardware ?
Can the ports be configured to Auto negotiate the speed for just the 10/100M but not the 1000M ? In other words I'd like to control the Gig connections.
RO = Read Only. When the TACACS server is down I am expecting to be prompted for a password at which time the password configured on the switch should let me in.Even when I enter the password configured on the switch that does not work.
I have a similar problem with 6500 catos. I do not have any users deined in the switch. However when the TACACS server is down, I cannot logon RO to the switch. I keep getting prompted to enter the first level password. Any Idea why ?
For starters u have spantree portfast on both uplinks/downlink ports. The client switch may not have enough time to get needed info from the server.Rule #1 never have portfast on on a switch to switch link port.
