Does anybody know of a Cisco way to enforce that a client accessing a remote network via the Cisco VPN client has the latest antivirus installed on their workstation / laptop.

I.E. - If a client tries to access a remote network, but has no AV software installed on his workstation, only the VPN client, access will be denied

cisco offers a solution called "network admission control", and it addresses the scenario you posted.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/netsol/ns466/networking_solutions_package.html

basically, the agent will verify the anti-virus software, signatures, os patches etc before network connectivity will be granted.

from memory, there are two sort of agents; one is integrated with anti-virus vendor software, and the other one is cisco standalone.
