[AnyConnect] MSI installation failed on Windows 7

Hi,

I tried to install AnyConnect on Windows 7.

I used anyconnect msi.

I got this error:

"Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.  Action VACon_Install, location: C:\Program Files\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\VACon.exe, command: -install "C:\Program Files\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\vpnva.inf" VPNVA"

I tried Cisco FAQ solution but it doesn't work : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps8411/products_qanda_item09186a00809aec31.shtml#errmsgs

I found the cause of the error in C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log

I got this error: "NdisCoinst: NcipAllocateNetLuidIndex failed with error 0x5aa"

The entire log is attached to this discussion.

How can I fix it?

Thanks for your help,

Patrick

It is sometimes not sufficient to run the ifcleanup script. Sometimes you have to export the

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\

registry key and look for the culprit subkey. Delete it and all subkeys and it installs

ie.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

and then run ifcleanup

What do you mean by the culprit subkey? How do I identify and delete it? Is it the one with the name provided by you?

Thanks for your help, because just applying the ifcleanup.x64 didn`t help and I am not sure what to do next!

I can't exactly help you there, it took some exploration for me. Although i'd venture a guess that if you see something that says "local area connection" with a value greater than 9, those can be safely deleted. Values less than 4, certainly do NOT delete them.

Hi Patrick -

I apparently have the same issue while attempting to run the client and I too have MvAfee Host Intrusion.

I downloaded and executed the ifclean routine but no help. I suspect the root cause as U mentioned to be MHIP.

Your help here would be appreciated

Rick

Hi Rick,

You could have more information on C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.app.log

C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log
