AnyConnect v4.7 with Windows 10 x64 - "the vpn connection was terminated due to a loss of the network interface" Error

Hi,

Our organisation has begun deploying Windows 10 x64, and we are experiencing issues with our VPN Connectivity over 3G/4G WWAN.

The issue appeared to be a Disconnect/Reconnect Cycle on AnyConnect, that happened 3 times, before the connection became stable enough to use.  After switching off the Auto Re-Connect feature on AnyConnect (doh!), we found that the error being shown was "the vpn connection was terminated due to a loss of the network interface"

The only way we can resolve the issue (albeit very temporarily - until the client device is rebooted), is to Uninstall the WWAN device from Windows Device Manager, and then letting Device Manager re-scan for it.

This isn't specific to a particular Laptop model (All Dell, of varying ages from 4yrs old right up to brand new)

We have tried:

  • Multiple drivers for the WWAN Card (a Dell DW5811e X7 Snapdragon) both old, and new
  • Testing devices out of the box from Dell (using their OEM image as opposed to our Organisation Custom Build)
    • Oddly out of 5 devices we tried this way, 4 had the issue, and 1 did not.

We have requested support from Dell but they have not been able to assist, and advised we see if anyone at Cisco/The Cisco Community could assist.

Attached are the DART Logs from a device with the issue, and a device without the issue (we couldn't find anything obviously different here, however, we aren't particularly clued up on reading these logs)

The logs also contain 2 different 4G Providers (UK - Vodafone and EE) as we were trying to ensure signal strength wasn't a factor.

ANY assistance you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated

I did notice during my search that someone else had posted about this type of issue, but had not got a resolution (from 2018).

Regards

Haydn
