AnyConnect is the actual SSL VPN client itself. It is responsible to create a remote access tunnel back to your ASA and encrypt packets between your host towards the HQ.

Here is more information on AnyConnect for your reference:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect30/administration/guide/ac01intro.html

Secure Desktop is the advance feature of SSL VPN, ie: provides end host scan, cache cleaner, secure desktop vault, prelogin assessment, etc.

Here is more information on Secure Desktop for your reference:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/csd/csd36/configuration/guide/CSDintro.html

Hope that helps.
