Cable Internet Access to VPN router

We have a small LAN with a dedicated ISDN line to the internet. We host our webpage, Exchange server and take on orders over the net. We have sales people in various parts of the country and need to gain access to our resources on the NT server. Currently, they can FTP to the site, but they have folders on our LAN they need to access. They have internet access via cable (CATV). Is it possible to have them log into our domain and access these resources? What equipment do I need to install at the office?

I’m sure you know this but FTP access isn’t very safe and won’t give you access to your network shares. If you have a Cisco ISDN router at your office you could upgrade the IOS to include an IPsec & Firewall feature set. Then you simply install the VPN client on the remote machines and configure your encrypted tunnel. Now when they access your network, all traffic will go through the tunnel and be encrypted. You can then configure the IOS Firewall features to lock down the network from the rest of the world. If you have a lot of remote clients or if you don’t have a Cisco ISDN router (or control over it) you might look into a dedicated VPN concentrator like the Cisco VPN 3000 or even a PIX Firewall. Wow that was a mouth full…..Any other ideas out there?
